A wonderful cause

Pascale Toureille, France, 04 Jun 2007
I first went to cambodia in 2000. I had with me some portraits drawn by my young students (I teach drawing and art) and also the address of an orphanage in Phnon Pehn. I met the 30 (cambodian) children and gave them the drawings done by the young french children along with a big box of colouring pens!

At the end of my travels I passed by the orphanage to say good bye and to my surprise they had also done portraits of themselves. They wanted me to bring their portraits back with me to France.

I never saw those children again because they moved location, however their wishes were well and truly fulfilled : since then I go to Cambodia every year where I work as a volunteer through my association 'L`atelier de la gare', doing a French / Cambodian exchange of drawings with schools, orphanages and handicapped children.

I have become the mediator of a magnificent artistic and cultural exchange. I have the children to thank!
L'Atelier de la Gare (Art Workshop)

Exists since 1998 in Ganges (34), small town in the South of France, and concentrates on drawing and painting.

Since 2000, Pascale Toureille turns the association's focus to Cambodia. L'Atelier de la Gare raises money in order to meet the needs of young poor Cambodian children, for example personal hygiene, clothes, entertainments. We also organize cultural exchanges: exchanging their drawing between French and Khmer children.

But a lots more could be done for the future of these children with your help. If you'd like to donate to this wonderful cause, please contact us at our email address: atelierdelagare@free.fr
Pascale Toureille's Feedback on e-Visa

I think it's very convenient to get the visa at home and print it so quickly, instead of waiting arriving at Pochentong airport. It's just something fun and easy while preparing the suitcase or the backpack at home! Now I will always do it that way.
